I'm not feeling pressure necessarily to appeal to the masses. There are definitely ways to do things that can drive up views or interest. One way would be some of these cheap tricks and another would be the long process of working to make really good shots consistently. I think it's similar to music. You can make the syrup-y stuff that might sucker people in but I think it's worthwhile to make really really good music and pull everybody in, including the suckers.

Are you saying that as you dive further into the photography world you find yourself under increasing pressure to appeal to the masses, but in doing so you think there is still room to travel an "honest path" AND be popular and meaningful at the same time? I like it. To be honest, the more I've thought about it the more I think that, when it comes to music at least, I find myself almost needing someone to gain some sort of popularity before I can really buy in. Perhaps it's because I don't dive deep enough into the music world, or because I am just a big phony, but if I'm the only one (relatively speaking of course) who finds a certain band to be awesome and great and cutting edge, is EVERYONE else really missing the boat or did I just misfire? I'm not saying they need to be on Nickelback's level (from a popularity standpoint) but maybe just like Muse before that one song was on the radio non-stop a year or two ago.

On the other hand, maybe I'm just perpetuating the evilness of themasses.

Hey Zach! Thanks for the kind words and plug. Keep shooting and good things will come, or at least that's what everyone tells me.

Take care.

I think it's the dead week before finals. Will probably get some more students once everyone is back in school and they start playing Pac-10 teams. But it's good that even without a strong student section, collegiate sports can bring out alumni and community =)

Thanks, Kelley. Not only are you a regular blogger, you're a commenter too. Alright! I struggled with the fan photo because I wasn't sure if I should be more representative of the student body but it's a fairly accurate portrayal of the Sunday afternoon crowd, at least.

Great work Zach. Especially working around one strobe not firing. I like the angle of Chiney Ogwumike photo, mixing it up a bit. And that fan photo is priceless =)

Hope the strobe issue is solved for your next game!

Thanks for the shout out too =)
